Windows 365 Just Got 20% Cheaper. Is a Cloud PC Right for You?

In May, Microsoft cut Windows 365 Business pricing by 20%. If you have never looked at cloud PCs before, the short version: instead of your computer being the box on your desk, it is a Windows machine running in Microsoft’s cloud that you connect to from any device.

The price cut makes the math interesting for certain businesses. Here is our honest take on where it fits.

Where cloud PCs shine

  • Contractors and seasonal staff. Spin up a machine for the engagement, shut it down after. No hardware to buy, ship, or chase down when someone leaves.
  • Bring your own device situations. Staff work from personal laptops, but company data stays in the cloud PC, never on the personal machine. Offboarding becomes flipping a switch.
  • Aging hardware fleets. A five year old laptop makes a perfectly good window into a fast cloud PC, which can stretch a replacement budget.

Where a real PC still wins

Heavy local work like design, engineering, and anything with specialized hardware attached still belongs on a physical machine. And every cloud PC needs a solid internet connection; if your office connectivity is shaky, fix that first.

The right answer is usually a mix, and it depends on how your team actually works. Book a free consultation and we will tell you whether the discounted math works for your situation.
